When should I start the tuxedo or suit process?
Arrange for a day four to eight months before the wedding to visit a store and start to get a feel for the styles that suit you most comfortably. Once you have picked out styles, which can be changed if necessary, ideal time to register the wedding is three to six months prior. Keep in mind however this is not a rigid timeline. When do I get my groomsmen fitted?
If you can, start instructing your guests to arrange for fitting two to three months before the wedding, as sizes usually do not change drastically in this timeframe. Sizes should ideally be received 1 month before the wedding. As human nature dictates, one always waits to the last minute, so don’t hesitate to tell your guests the deadline is a couple of weeks earlier.
How should the groom look in comparison with the wedding party?
This depends on ones taste. Some choose to have the whole wedding party including the groom match up. However, most choose to distinguish the groom in a way that sets him apart from the wedding party while keeping the look associated with the group. Using subtle accents like the lapels of the coats, number of buttons on the coat, type of shirt, handkerchiefs, and tie are all examples of the tools we use to accomplish this.
Who wears tuxedo’s at the wedding?
Customarily, all men in the wedding party, which includes: Groom, Best Man, Fathers, Grandfathers, Groomsmen, Ushers and Ringbearer should be wearing tuxedos. This creates unity in the group. Although Grandfathers are often reluctant to dress formal at the wedding, they are the senior members of your party and sentimental pictures look much better when they are in a tuxedo. Some couples however choose to add a touch of class by having a “Black Tie” wedding, where all guests wear tuxedos.
What about those who live too far to come in?
Contrary to popular belief, one does not have to choose a tux shop that has locations near all the guests. Fitting is very simple, out of town guests will go to their local formalwear store and get a customary fitting. Fitting forms can be obtained from our store or downloaded of this website. The guest simply mails, faxes or calls in these sizes and their garment is freshly prepared and waiting when they arrive, saving them the hassle of travelling with a delicate garment. What about the guests in my party that are hard to fit? No problem. We have a large clientele of hard to fit customers because of our extensive inventory and expertly trained staff. In fact we are one of the only stores that carries coats up to size 70 on the premises! Just be sure to give us the sizes in an especially timely manner and enjoy seeing your guests looking as sharp as ever!
What if my tuxedo needs to be adjusted at the last minute?
Here’s where choosing the right tux shop is as important as ever.
